POST HUMAN - Though Project One
Perhaps nothing really has to be done.
If one imagines that it is done, merely convinces oneself that it actually happened then what is to say that it didnt happen? A post-human structure of persuasion in which the event occurs conceptually - the lessons are understood and learnt in as muchas the same way if they were experienced in today's common understanding of the term.
That is what is the need of human experiences within a post-human framework. Surely then the experiences would become post-human. The term experience would becom null and void. For post-humans, intellectually and biophysically improved, would need not experience anything in a phenomonal sense of the word, but rather would be aiming for a non-sensible knowing of things-in-themselves. What would be the point in percieving objects in the world when we could potentially know them at once? (Rhetorical question - because there would be no point.) Post-human is ultimately post-experience and thus the beginning of noumenal, immediate and indescriminate, knowledge from non-sensible intuition. The process wouldb be the escape of the human condition itself.
So how would one go about representing this within an artwork. There seems to be an inherent contradiction within the concept of representing the post-human, which is by definition an epoch without need of representation, let alone a stimulus to be intuited by the senses. Perhaps the artwork may hinge on the conveyance of the idea that the means by which we gather information (sensible intuition) can be exceeded in terms of its clarity and understanding by the absence of experience. In this artwork it would be the absence of experience that is exercised and examined. The recontextualisation of experience from the natural (intuitive) realm into the forward consciousness, where the audience is made to feel overtly aware of their sensory perception, would be a starting point.

What Is Going On?
As you may have noticed there are many many repitions of my first blog entry. How bizarre. Upon submitting the entry i recieved a notice (in no language that i understand) of some fatal (or was that critical?) error. Then upon viewing the site there they were...multiple entries of the same thing in different formats - how bizarre! I put this down to the inept programming that has been used to design this current blogging interface. But dont be put off...even Picasso had his critics, but can you name one of them? I will attempt to delete previous entries, and if i suceed then you will bear witness to the results. Unfortunately their will be no evidence of the fault and hence i am destroying the only evidence that supports my criticism. How very ironic. In theory i should leave them their as a stain...a mark in history when the COFA computing department (who refers to themselves in an ungrammatical plural throughout the COFA walls - CSUs: Computing Services Units), however lets be non-descript. The CSU is already under a lot of pressure and i, a student, must not add to their worries by pointing out yet another crack in their montage.
Keep treking in the place you call your home.

A self Supporting idea
Alrighty, very little work done here.
Ok, performance art, how can i comment on this within the camera?
Commenting on Cindy Sherman's work. She dresses up to act as a character within a film. B-grade of course, noir is beautiful. Ok, so how would it work, if i, a male, were to appropriate her works by acting as Cindy Sherman. In the same vain as Cindy subverting Michelangelo. Perhaps i can revert bakc into film! Cindy appropriates great paintings within photography and subverts them with the female dressing as male. How would it work, if i were to reincorporate the original painting into a video work, by means of a fragmented stroy line, in lieu of the 1950's b-grade film and obviously cindy sherman poses. The idea of masquearade would be enhanced, by a male acting as the female subverting male art. So in turn am i subverting male art while sibverting simultaneously the act of feminist appropriation?
i think i will work on something similar to this. It will be rushed, it will be hashed up, but i think it is a very neat idea...let me run this over with josh, and i think i will do it on friday which allows the weekend for editing.
Create storyboard tonight. Borrow camera tomoz afternoon. Shoot friday morning. Edit Friday night. Watch and re-edit Sunday. MUST BE FINISHED SUNDAY> exam in tuesday, which reminds me to write this reminder: CONTACT MAUREEN!

a little number
For your information...
I was watching a newsreport on Afghanistan Forces while cutting down poppy plants came under fire from hostile forces...named as Taliban fighters. I saw the report on both channel 7 and sbs. They had slight differences and channel 7 focused on THEIR camera crew in the "firefight" however what caught my attention was one similarity. Both networks reported that the black market trade of poppy plants for the use in production of Heroin and opiate would benefit the Taliban forces. Somehow both news sources made a connection of illicit drug profits returning to the Taliban.
This link made me think. During the terms of government the Taliban had over Afghanistan a true zero tolerance drug agenda was enforced. That is poppy farmers had to account for their sales through a heavily regulated government department. When a discrepency, unregistered farm, or suspicious activities were found the owner/s were shot dead. That's zero tolerance. The Taliban, a (extreme) fundamentalist Islamic group, holds a great belief within their faith which affirms the removal of drugs from society, and does not allow profiteering from drugs - this includes prescription drugs. The Taliban, while in government, sought international disapproval of the 'International Drug Adminstration' policies especially in reference to their 'population testing' in Africa.
So I find it somewhat hard to believe that such a group could now be willingly recieving profits from a drug trade. Their movement, and extreme consequences of their beliefs are manifestations of their interpretation of religion. One thing you usually do not find in fundamentalism is such flagrant hypocricy.
Which then brought me to these sites...
Neonascent
BBC
Yet another telling sign of how social perspective is skewed by the formation of the dollar and profiteering. And perhaps another argument for the decriminalisation of particular recreation drugs in order to:
a) break the connection between law abiding citizens and criminal sellers of drugs.
b) regulate the supply and quality of recreational drugs
c) make a public profit from the sales of recreational drugs
On the one hand i am for the benefits excise can bring to the public domain for a common good - in the examples of alcohol and tobacco - even fuel. Yet in all three the profiteering (yes profiteering and not taxation) from social these consumerables have had a negative effect in the social consciousness and individual behaviour toward these products, leading to an excess in each.
Putting aside the social problems which are caused by the excessive use of uncategorized drugs such as alcohol and tobacco. And also putting aside the social problems that arise from the neglect of criminal activities and unregulated illicit drug use. There is an inherent problem with the resourcing and ranking of drug use within Australian society. The problem lies with the perspective of toleration that develops and the political manipulation that follows.
On the one hand there can exist a zero tolerance on drugs where individuals with small amounts of criminalised substances may be sentenced to gaol with a permanent record. Thereby developing a whole new set of irrevocable problems for said individual. There develops a social conscious toward these 'illicit drug' users - "not in my neighbourhood". Which does not stem the social problem that arises from unregulated drug use, but rather ghettoes the problem in small locations, often ending in mass governmental movement of 'drug users/homeless' to regional ares (if i could remind people of the mass exodus during the 2000 Sydney Olympics) and the resulting problems that were then faced by numerous regional communioties at large. An act which further solidifies a negative community persctive on a type of individual that now more than ever needs community support to be ostracised and made a criminal. Such leads to an increase in private security forces and the division of public police forces.
On the other hand, there exists a growing acceptance of disorderly drunken behaviour and assault. A growing sense of binge drinking, drinking to excess, and the social weekend every weekend to escape the monotonous nine to fiver. Increased target marketing, and the subliminal targeting of minors. There are political attacks upon "drink driving", anti-smoking campaigns funded by tobacco companies and the State by State restrictions upon smoking within semi-public places (such as bars and restaurants). Yet the direction and severity of these courses of action do not reflect the effects these drugs have upon society. The balance is severely overweighted and underweighted in respect to the medical, social, and criminal ramifications of specific drug use.
What ever shall we do about it?
